Programme 2022/23

We have a varied programme of events throughout each year to try to provide as much interest as possible. All meetings start at 7.00pm for presentation start 7.15pm sharp unless stated.
There will be a £4 charge for non-members when we have guest speakers. For more detailed info and live calender go to the calendar page.

SEPT 2022
12 - Meet the Club (Open Evening) - At this first meeting of the season, come along to meet fellow club members. The club committee will introduce themselves and present a few images from their recent work. A chance to find out about what is in store for the season and we welcome prospective members and existing members alike.
19 - MEETING POSTPONED DUE TO THE FUNERAL OF HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN
26 - The 'art' of judging images and other competition related matters - Along with a brief guide on all competitions that club members can enter, committee member Clare gives an insight into critiquing and judging images. We encourage all members to take part in this fun and informal session where attendees will be divided into small groups to discuss and score a selection of images.

3 - Nine By Nine By Nine - Nine club members talk about nine of their images, each having nine minutes to do so. We particularly encourage newer members to share their work in these evenings
10 - Joan Russell - Press Photography - After studying photography at Newport Art College, Joan worked at Guzelian Press Agency in Bradford for 15 years. She documented Northern press stories for a range of local, national and international publications. In this presentation, Joan talks us through some of her favourite images from her distinguished career.
17 - Summer Project Part 1 - Teams of club members show photographs from their '5 go photographing' summer project
24 - Gillian Allinson and Neil Sheard - Club members, Gillian and Neil show some of their recent work. Gillian's work focusses on landscape, nature and horses while Neil will showcase his passion for motorsport
31 - Andy Mumford - Landscape Composition - Andy is a Lisbon based professional landscape and travel photographer whose images and photography writing have featured in magazines and publications worldwide. As well as workshops and travelling he produces regular videos about photography on his Youtube channel. Andy is a Fuji X Photographer and a brand ambassador for Fujifilm in Portugal.

28 - Neil Horsley and John Tomlinson - Club members Neil and John present some of their recent photographic work. Neil talks about his Mills Transformed project, and John about his approach to photography as artform

9 - John Bolloten - Margins - John Bolloten is a documentary photographer based in Bradford, UK. John's current on-going projects include bare knuckle pit fighting, Generation Grime (an in-depth study of the northern grime scene) and an exploration into the world of British battle rap

16 - Tracey Lund - Wildlife Photography Part 2 - Award winning photographer Tracey Lund returns to the club to showcases another selection of stunning nature and wildlife images from her travels.

30 - Imran Irza - Bradford-based photographer, Imran, shares his stunning landscapes and astro images

Feb 2023
6 - Simon Buckley - Dusk and Dawn Photography - For the project "Not Quite Light", Simon photographs the places we exist in the half light of dawn and dusk, with particular interest in regeneration. He has recently completed major projects for the Barnaby Festival and the Manchester Collective. An exhibition 'Time Will Tell'was staged at Modernist Society in March and April. Simon has worked for national media such as Saturday Telegraph Magazine, Elle and The Guardian, and has exhibited in the UK, France, Germany, Hong Kong and China.
13 - Annual Projected Image Competition - Images from Club members, with an external judge providing critique and feedback
20 - Paul RG Haley - One Man's War - Paul was a photographer attached to the armed forces, and accompanied the ground forces during the Falklands War of 1982. He will tell his story with slideshow and prints.
27 - Ron Pengelly - Inspirations - Club member Ron shares some of his work, including the people and subjects that have inspired him as a photographer.

Mar 2023
6 - John Gill - The word on the street - John is known for his documentary and street photography, often based in West Yorkshire. John's projects have been exhibited in the UK and overseas and the book “After the Coal Dust” was released in 2020. In this talk he shares with us some of his recent work and his approach to photography.
06 - Mounted Prints final deadline Annual Monochrome Print Competition.
13 - Bingley Camera Club meets Five Rise Frocks (Bingley Women's Institute) - We will discuss developing our own photography including making best use of mobile phone cameras. An evening that will include photos from Bingley Camera club and Five Rise Frocks WI members, chat, critique and cake
20 - Annual Monochrome Print Competition - Prints from Club members, with an external judge providing critique and feedback.
27 - President's Challenge - Anything can happen - the challenge will be set to club members during the season

Apr 2023
3 - David Keep - Sports images with impact. - Sports images are very successful on the competition circuit & there’s no surprise why - they almost guarantee an image with impact. In this talk, David will share his approach to gaining access, technical challenges on the day & post-processing. Sports covered include; athletics, squash, tennis, boxing, cross-country horse jumping, speed skating, white water canoeing & several more.
3 - Mounted Prints final deadline - Annual Colour Print Competition.

24 - Richard Lewis - Finding your creative voice - Learn how one simple word and four questions can change your photography.

We also encourage members to organise their own photographic get-togethers – the club secretary can circulate details to all members by email (not everyone uses the Facebook or WhatsApp groups) or they can be added by committee members to the calendar
