Chris Duffy
The spotlight falls this time on Chris Duffy who has been a Committee Member now for a couple of years. He is an active and valuable member of the Club and our "handyman". It was Chris who designed and constructed our "much admired" new print display board.
How long have you been a member of the Club?
I joined after coming to the open evening in 2012
How did you get into photography?
I have always enjoyed taking photos, mainly family and holidays. I had a brief time when I used a Praktica 35mm film camera but it never came off auto and I relied on the chemist for developing. In 2011 I bought a canon bridge camera and later did a one day course which gave me a basic understanding of the settings and confidence to start using them and now have a dslr
What's your favourite area/genre/subject of photography?
I enjoy all aspects of photography and find it difficult to pick one. I do like 'playing ' in photoshop and creating something different. I would say I prefer artistic to record shots and I am trying to conquer composite pictures.
What camera do you currently use?
Like a lot of people my choice was determined by budget, I have a Canon 550D with kit lenses, but recently upgrading the lenses.
What is the most frustrating thing about (your) photography?
Finding enough time to get out and take pictures!
Favourite Places for photography?
Scotland and any coastal areas.
If you could photograph one thing/person anywhere in the world what would it be and why?
At the moment I would like to capture the Northern lights.
Do you have any photographers who have inspired you?
Not particularly, I have found some of the guest speakers inspiring and I am looking forward to some of this years visitors .
What's your dream camera?
I am not really sure what is out there but having seen some results from a Canon 1dx , I would say that at the moment.
How could you improve your own photography?
I don't take enough pictures so ......Get out more!
